Description
Teac UD-701N USB DAC / Network Player
The Teac UD-701N is a USB DAC and network player with an integrated analogue preamplifier function and headphone amplifier.
The converter is a discrete TEAC ΔΣ (Delta Sigma) DAC that uses an FPGA with proprietary algorithms. DSD signals are passed through unchanged, while PCM signals run through a ΔΣ modulator and are converted into 1-bit signals. Playback of DSD up to 22.5 MHz and PCM up to 384 kHz/32-bit is supported.
Design
- Dual-mono structure: separate circuits for the left and right channels, from the power supply through the D/A conversion to the analogue output stage
- Four toroidal transformers: two for the separate left/right analogue signals, plus one each for the network module and the digital control section
- Fully balanced transmission of the output signal after D/A conversion
- TEAC-HCLD2 output buffer circuits with diamond buffer amplifiers, differential for the balanced output and parallel for the unbalanced output
- Floating structure to isolate the transformers from the base plate; TEAC original pinpoint feet
Preamplifier and volume control
In addition to its function as a USB DAC and network player, the UD-701N works as an analogue preamplifier with analogue inputs via RCA and XLR. The TEAC-QVCS (Quad Volume Control System) controls volume with four independent circuits (L+, L−, R+, R−) in 0.5 dB steps.
Headphone amplifier
The dedicated headphone amplifier uses four diamond buffers (left, right, positive, negative) and can be switched between balanced operation and active ground. Headphones up to 600 Ω are supported.
Formats and network
- MQA full decoder, also for digital inputs; MQA CDs can be played back via the digital output of a CD player
- Upconversion using RDOT-NEO to 2×, 4× or 8× sampling frequency (max. 384 kHz)

Safety information — Audio Everywhere
These notes apply to all HiFi devices and accessories sold by us.
Electronic devices (amplifiers, streamers, CD players, turntables)
Operate only in dry, enclosed indoor spaces. Avoid moisture, direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Use only the specified mains voltage — do not overload power strips. Do not switch on devices with damaged cables or housings. Keep ventilation slots clear: at least 10 cm distance from walls and other devices. Place stably and securely — no open liquid containers nearby. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
Speakers
Place on a stable surface or suitable stands. No moisture, no direct sunlight. Operate only with matching amplifiers and correctly polarised cables. Do not use as a storage surface. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
Cables (speaker cables, RCA, power cables)
Use only for the intended purpose. Always pull by the plug, never by the cable. Avoid kinks, sharp edges and pressure from heavy objects. Replace visibly damaged cables immediately. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
Accessories (adapters, mounts, cleaning agents, styli, headshells)
Use only according to the manufacturer's instructions. No aggressive cleaning agents, no damp environments. Store small parts safely due to choking hazard. Mount accessories correctly to avoid damage or malfunction.
General notes
Read the operating instructions before use. No unauthorised repairs or opening of devices. Always contact a specialist service for technical problems. We are happy to answer any questions about safe use at any time.
